Selection Round for SIH 2026

This is to inform all concerned that Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur is organizing the Internal Hackathon 2026 on 14th and 15th September 2026.

The Internal Hackathon will enable us to identify and select the most promising projects and teams to represent our institution in the Smart India Hackathon 2026. Registration for SIH 2026 is now open. To represent the institute at the national level, your team must first be selected through our Internal Hackathon.

Step 1: Team Registration

Deadline: 5:00 PM IST, September 07, 2026 (Monday)

SIH 2026 Team Rules
Parameter SIH 2026 Official Requirement
Team Size Exactly 6 students, including the Team Leader.
Gender Ratio Mandatory At least 1 female student per team.
College Restriction All 6 students must be from the same institute.
Internal Hackathon Only teams selected through internal screening can be nominated.
Institute Limit Maximum 50 teams (45 shortlisted + 5 waitlisted).
Mentors Up to 2 mentors are allowed for the Grand Finale.
Team Name Must be unique. Do not include the institute name.
Problem Statements (PS) A team can submit ideas against a maximum of 2 PSs.
Ideas per PS Maximum 500 ideas nationally; once reached, the PS freezes.
Institutional Deadline September 11, 2026.
Grand Finale Proposed for December 2026 (Offline at nodal centres).
Selection Odds Generally, 4–5 teams per PS are selected nationally (determined by PS organization).

Step 2: Idea and Presentation Submission

Deadline: 5:00 PM IST, September 11, 2026 (Friday)
Submission Format: A strict 6-slide PDF presentation.

Slide Required Content
1 Title Slide: PS ID, PS Title, Theme, PS Category, Team ID, Registered Team Name.
2 Proposed Solution: Detailed solution, how it addresses the problem, innovation & uniqueness.
3 Technical Approach: Technologies, methodology/process, flowchart/images/working prototype.
4 Feasibility: Feasibility analysis, challenges/risks, and mitigation strategies.
5 Impact & Benefits: Target-audience impact; social, economic, and environmental benefits.
6 References: Details and links to supporting research work.

Step 3: Internal Presentation Schedule

Dates: September 14 or 15, 2026 (Monday or Tuesday)
  • Each team will be given 10 minutes to present their idea to the evaluation panel.
  • Final nomination to the official SIH portal will depend entirely on your performance in this presentation.
