Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC), Durgapur celebrated National Doctors' Day 2026 with immense pride and reverence in association with The Mission Hospital, Durgapur, commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary physician, eminent educationist, Bharat Ratna awardee and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.

The programme began with floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy at Management House and to his statue at Bidhan Uddyan. Members of the Society, Principals, the Registrar, faculty members, staff, and students came together to pay homage to his remarkable legacy and reaffirm the values of service, compassion, and excellence that continue to inspire generations.

The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Tarun Bhattacharya, General Secretary,  Mrs. Mita Mitra, Vice President, and Mrs. Rita Singh, Assistant Secretary of the Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College Society. Distinguished academic leaders included Prof. (Dr.) K. M. Hossain, Vice Principal, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College; Prof. (Dr.) Rajib Roy, Principal, Dr. B.C. Roy Academy of Professional Courses; Prof. (Dr.) Samir Kumar Samanta, Principal, Dr. B. C. Roy College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences; and Prof. (Dr.) Arijit Kumar Banerji, Principal, Dr. B.C. Roy Polytechnic College. Representing The Mission Hospital, Durgapur were Dr. Partha Pal, Medical Director, Dr. Aritra Ray, Assistant Medical Superintendent, along with a team of eminent physicians and specialists.

A major highlight of the celebration was a comprehensive Health Check-up Camp organized jointly by the NSS Department of BCREC in association with The Mission Hospital, Durgapur. Faculty members, staff, administrators, and employees from all four institutions under the Society enthusiastically participated in the initiative. Nearly 150 beneficiaries underwent health screenings and received expert consultations from doctors representing various medical specialties.

The initiative reaffirmed the Society's commitment to promoting health awareness, community engagement, and holistic well-being through meaningful collaborations with leading healthcare institutions. The celebration concluded on a note of gratitude and inspiration, reinforcing the timeless ideals of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and recognizing the invaluable contributions of doctors in safeguarding the health and well-being of society.
