ABOUT IIC

The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) is a program launched by the Ministry of Education (MoE) (formerly MHRD) and the AICTE to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The IIC program aims to establish a vibrant innovation ecosystem within HEIs by encouraging and supporting students, faculty, and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities.

Key Objectives

• Promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship: IICs are established to encourage students and faculty to develop new ideas and transform them into prototypes.
• Create a Local Innovation Ecosystem: IICs aim to build a local environment that supports and nurtures innovation within the institution.
• Support Start-ups and Entrepreneurship: IICs play a role in supporting the development of start-ups and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Prepare HEIs for ARIIA: IICs help institutions prepare for the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) framework, a government initiative that ranks institutions based on their innovation and entrepreneurial performance.

Activities Undertaken by IIC:

• Organizing Workshops, Seminars, and Interactions: IICs conduct various events like workshops, seminars, and interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals to provide exposure and guidance to students.
• Creating an Innovation Portal: IICs may develop an online platform to showcase innovative projects, share success stories, and facilitate communication among stakeholders.
• Mentoring and Support: IICs provide mentorship and support to students and faculty in developing their ideas, creating prototypes, and navigating the process of commercialization.
• Promoting IPR and Patent Filing: IICs may encourage students and faculty to protect their intellectual property through patents and other mechanisms.
• Organizing Hackathons and Competitions: IICs may organize hackathons, innovation challenges, and other competitions to stimulate creativity and problem-solving skills.

In essence, the IIC program is a strategic initiative to embed innovation and entrepreneurship into the fabric of HEIs, ultimately contributing to a more innovative and entrepreneurial India.
