The Department of Civil Engineering at Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC), in technical collaboration with the Institution of Engineers (India) Durgapur Local Centre, the Indian Society of Earthquake Technology (ISET), and the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), successfully convened a Poster Competition, at the Civil Engineering Department Seminar Hall on the occasion of the Engineers' Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya for his contributions in the field of Civil Engineering in the pre-independence era.

The inaugural proceedings featured the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Sengupta (HOD, Civil Engineering, Head, Department of Civil Engineering), who mentioned the importance of learning the basics of Science and Technology. In his executive address, Prof. (Dr.) K. M. Hossain (Principal, BCREC) focussed on the importance of student's learning by raising queries in the form of "What if.." type of questions to their teachers. The subject-matter experts, Er. Manoja Kumar Biswal (Principal Technical Officer, CSIR-CMERI) and Prof. (Dr.) Sandip Mondal (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Earth & Environmental Studies, NIT Durgapur), commended the participants for presenting authentic, student-generated technical designs, highlighting the absence of AI-generated content. The programme engaged approximately 40 undergraduate engineering students across disciplines from BCREC and Dr. B. C. Roy Polytechnic, who presented 12 technical posters.

Aligned with the core mandate, Engineering Excellence for a Sustainable and Technologically Sovereign India, the technical presentations integrated core thematic verticals- specifically highlighting indigenous technological paradigms for Atmanirbhar Bharat to advance disaster-resilient structural frameworks, decarbonized green engineering methodologies for net-zero targets, and advanced geotechnical interventions for smart urban infrastructure. Prof. (Dr.) Jayanta Pal (Associate Professor, Department of BSH, BCREC) and Prof. (Dr.) Saurav Ranjan Das (Associate Professor, Department of BSH, BCREC) were also present to serve as the Judge for the event.

The session concluded with a rigorous, criteria-based evaluation and technical queriesp by the expert panellists. 6 groups received the exciting cash prizes with the first position being bagged by the students from Dr. B. C. Roy Polytechnic Durgapur. The rest of the participants were also assured that they would receive some special appreciation from the BCREC and IEI Durgapur Local Centre.

The program was hosted by Dr. Soumyadip Das (Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, BCREC and Institutional Coordinator of IEI and ISET Students' Chapters as well as Member of IEI and ISET), Dr. Sayantan Dutta (Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, BCREC and Departmental Coordinator of IEI Students' Chapter), supported by Mrs. Anindita Sengupta (Technical Assistant, Department of Civil Engineering  and Mr. Surajit Sen (Senior Technical Assistant, Department of Civil Engineering, BCREC).
