Grand Celebration of Knowledge & Curiosity 

Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC) Society, Durgapur, successfully organized BCREC Quizineer 2026, an inter-school quiz competition, on October 1, 2026, at the Dulal Mitra Auditorium, BCREC Campus. The event commenced at 10:00 AM and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 28 schools from different parts of South Bengal, making it one of the largest school-level quiz events held in the region.

The quiz was conducted by renowned quiz master Mr. Aanton Mookherjee of Kolkata, whose engaging style and challenging questions kept the participating teams and audience thoroughly involved throughout the competition.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Satyajit Bose, President, BCREC Society. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bose remarked that while “Kolkata is a quiz capital, Durgapur is not far behind,” highlighting the growing culture of knowledge, curiosity and competitive learning in the industrial city. The event was graced by Mr. Tarun Bhattacharya, General Secretary, BCREC Society; Mr. Jernail Singh, Treasurer, BCREC Society, along with other members of the Society and the Principals of the Pharmacy and Polytechnic Colleges under the BCREC Society.

The competition saw spirited participation from school teams representing different parts of South Bengal. After an exciting DAV Model School, Durgapur emerged as the Champion, winning a cash prize of ₹50,000, contest, along with a certificate, trophy and medals. Burnpur Riverside School, Burnpur secured the Second Position and received a cash prize of ₹30,000, while St. Michael’s School, Durgapur finished Third, receiving a cash prize of ₹20,000. The winners were also presented with certificates, trophies and medals.

The Dulal Mitra Auditorium, with a capacity of around 500 people, was filled with students, teachers, quiz enthusiasts and dignitaries, creating an energetic and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. BCREC Society officials expressed their satisfaction at the overwhelming response to the inaugural edition of BCREC Quizineer and emphasized the importance of such academic and co-curricular initiatives in encouraging students to develop curiosity, awareness, analytical thinking and a passion for learning.
