Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College (BCREC), Durgapur, successfully organized a DRDO-sponsored National Workshop on “Wearable Microwave Components (Antenna & Filters) & Fabrication Techniques” at the Dulal Mitra Auditorium, BCREC campus. Organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), BCREC, in association with a DRDO-funded project, the workshop brought together eminent experts, academicians, researchers, faculty members and students to explore emerging developments in wearable microwave technologies, antenna and filter design, and advanced fabrication techniques.
The programme commenced with the felicitation of the distinguished guests by Vice President Mrs. Mita Mitra, General Secretary Mr. Tarun Bhattacharya and Treasurer Mr. Jernail Singh of the Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur Society. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Satyajit Bose, President, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur (Society). He highlighted the significance of industry-oriented research, technological innovation and academic collaboration in preparing students for the rapidly evolving domains of microwave and communication technologies. The event was graced by Society Members, dignitaries, faculty and staff members, researchers and students of the institution.
The technical sessions featured distinguished experts and academicians, including a Senior Scientist from DRDO, Dehradun, who shared valuable insights into contemporary developments and applications of microwave components and technologies. Prof. Bhaskar Gupta, Former Vice Chancellor, Jadavpur University, and Dr. Pankaj Sarkar, Assistant Professor, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, also contributed to the enriching technical sessions. The workshop explored the fundamentals and applications of wearable microwave components, antennas and filters, along with advanced fabrication techniques relevant to next-generation communication and electronic systems. The interactive sessions offered participants valuable exposure to current research trends, practical applications and emerging opportunities in microwave engineering.
Dr. Sourav Moitra, Principal Investigator of the DRDO-funded project, and Prof. Keka Hajra, Co-Principal Investigator, played a key role in coordinating the workshop and facilitating meaningful academic and technical interactions. The workshop served as an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, research collaboration and strengthening the bridge between academia, research and advanced technological applications.
